Overview

The East Hospital Radiotherapy employs a comprehensive treatment approach that integrates systemic chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy with a focus on radiotherapy for various tumors throughout the body. Under the leadership of Professor XIANG Zuolin, the department head and academic leader, the team comprises over 30 dedicated staff members, including doctors, medical physicists, technicians, and nurses.

Services

At East Hospital, the Radiotherapy Department is equipped with a specialized laboratory for tumor radiotherapy. With advanced EDGE linear accelerators, we stand at the forefront of technological innovation. We are early adopters of cutting-edge techniques such as stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy, and intensity-modulated radiotherapy. Leveraging the extensive clinical experience, we have cultivated our own specialties and strengths in the treatment and research of common malignant tumors, including rectal cancer, hepatobiliary tumors, nasopharyngeal cancer, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, and malignant lymphoma.

Notably, our expertise in stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) technology is widely regarded as pioneering in the field, offering patients access to state-of-the-art treatment modalities. The exceptional treatment services, medical quality, and ethical standards upheld by the Radiotherapy Department at East Hospital have earned us praise and trust from a significant number of patients, reaffirming our commitment to excellence in cancer care.

Honors & Commitments

Functioning as a mobile postdoctoral station and serving as a PhD and master program station of Tongji University, we are actively training 16 postgraduate researchers, PhD students, and master students, nurturing the next generation of leaders in the field. We spearheaded 3 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, in addition to over 10 projects at the provincial, ministerial, and district levels. Our research endeavors have yielded remarkable outcomes, including the publication of over 30 SCI papers, with the highest impact factor reaching 38.  Moreover, we have contributed to the editing of 10 monographs and guidelines, and gained recognition with several prestigious awards, including the second prize of Science and Technology Progress in Shanghai and the second prize of Medical Science and Technology in Shanghai.
