Overview

The Rehabilitation Medicine at East Hospital is a specialized department integrating medical care, education, and research. Drawing upon the hospital’s core disciplines, including emergency medicine, Shanghai key discipline trauma orthopedics, stroke center, Pudong advanced discipline cardiovascular medicine, respiratory medicine, and Pudong sports medicine, it has matured into a comprehensive rehabilitation department. We focuse on trauma rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, sports trauma rehabilitation, early stroke rehabilitation, postpartum rehabilitation, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. Through an integrated clinical and comprehensive management model, we extend rehabilitation services tailored to address a spectrum of common diseases.

Services

At East Hospital, the Rehabilitation Medicine offers high-end services such as international services and designated outpatient clinics. We actively engage in rehabilitation support for major sports events in Shanghai and serve as a designated hospital for athlete-specific medical insurance, rendering high-caliber rehabilitation to Olympic champions, national champions, and exceptional teams. Embracing international outreach, one of our physicians has contributed to medical missions during Antarctic scientific expeditions. Leveraging online platforms, the team vigorously promotes rehabilitation medicine, benefiting sports enthusiasts and chronic disease patients alike.

Honors & Commitments

We have undertaken 5 municipal research projects in Shanghai, in addition to 1 research project supported by the Pudong New District Health Commission. The team members have authored over 40 papers in core journals, including 3 SCI papers. Additionally, we have authored 3 monographs, contributed to 12 books, and received prestigious awards such as the first and second prizes in the Shanghai Rehabilitation Medicine Science and Technology Award, along with the third prize in the Shanghai Integrative Medicine Science and Technology Award.

As a teaching and training hub for multiple universities, we facilitate undergraduate teaching and clinical internships for esteemed institutions like the Rehabilitation Medicine Department at Tongji University, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Sports Rehabilitation Department at Shanghai University of Sport, Xuzhou Medical University, and Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Sciences. Recognized as the standardized training base for rehabilitation medicine resident physicians in Shanghai and the master training center for sports rehabilitation at Shanghai University of Sport, we actively engage in various academic committees, including the Chinese Society of Sports Medicine, Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine Trauma Rehabilitation Expert Committee, Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine Tele-Rehabilitation Expert Committee, Chronic Disease Rehabilitation Expert Committee Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine, Chinese Research Hospital Association Burn Trauma Repair, Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation Specialty Committee, among others. Additionally, the team holds pivotal positions in several Shanghai-based committees, such as the Shanghai Rehabilitation Medicine Quality Control Center Expert Committee, Shanghai Rehabilitation Medicine Association Council, Shanghai Medical Association Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Branch, Shanghai Medical Association Physician Association Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Branch, Shanghai Medical Association Sports Medicine Branch, Shanghai Rehabilitation Medicine Association Orthopedic Rehabilitation Committee, and Shanghai Medical Association Chronic Disease Management Special Committee.
