Overview

The Medical Imaging Department at East Hospital serves as a cutting-edge center for medical imaging examinations, seamlessly integrating clinical care, education, research, and health management. We are dedicated to providing high-quality medical imaging services as a key discipline in the construction projects of Shanghai and Pudong New District, a sub-discipline institution in the Shanghai key discipline group construction project, one of the imaging bases for standardized training of resident physicians in Shanghai, and a demonstration service window for East Hospital.

Expert Team

The Medical Imaging Department is equipped with a robust team of over 100 staff members across both the North and South Campuses. More than 80% of physicians hold graduate degrees and 11 hold senior titles.

Under the leadership of the renowned neuroimaging expert, Director CHU Shuguang, we are committed to delivering top-tier medical imaging services. Upholding the core service goals of faster, better, and safer, we emphasize precision in examinations, accuracy in image interpretation, and efficiency in assisting clinical decision-making.

Services

Equipped with cutting-edge imaging facilities, we excel in a comprehensive range of examination projects, particularly in neuroimaging, emergency trauma examination, one-stop cardiac examination, low-dose targeted chest nodule scanning, and multi-modal prostate MRI scans. Moreover, we have been recognized as a green CT demonstration base for the advanced network transfer system (AGFA PACS image system) for real-time image, offering low-radiation, low-contrast agent dosage, and rapid scanning CT-enhanced examinations. 

Our advanced devices include 10 CT scanners, 8 MRI machines, 4 DR machines, 2 Molybdenum target X-ray machines, 2 gastrointestinal machines, Canon Aquilion 320-row CT, Siemens 2nd dual-source CT, PHILIPS-Achieva 3.0T MRI, GE 750W Silent MRI, United Imaging United Imaging uMR 790 3.0T LightSpeed MRI, Siemens 3D Molybdenum Target X-ray Machine, and a dual-arm 3D robotic digital X-ray machine.

Additionally, we actively engage in various research projects funded by organizations such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Shanghai Committee of Science and Technology, and the Shanghai Health Commission. We are also a part of the national multicenter clinical-imaging research projects. Annually, we recruit and trains numerous foreign students, graduate students, standardized training resident physicians, interns, and visiting physicians.
