Overview
The Nuclear Medicine Department at East Hospital stands as a cornerstone of excellence in Pudong New District and a standardized training base for resident physicians in Shanghai, offering PhD and master degree programs in collaboration with Tongji University. Under the guidance of one chief physician, one PhD tutor, and two master tutors, the department embodies a commitment to pioneering advancements in nuclear medicine.
Services
At East Hospital, the Nuclear Medicine Department is equipped with top-notch equipment, including SIEMENS Symbia Intevo T16 quantitative SPECT/CT, United Imaging uMI510 PET/CT, uPMR 790 integrated PET/MR, and bone density meter. We offer services regarding imaging examinations for tumors, cardiovascular and nervous system disorders using PET/CT and PET/MR. Additionally, we provide functional imaging examinations utilizing SPECT/CT for various organs such as the heart, bones, kidneys, thyroid, brain, lungs, digestive system, and liver, alongside bone density testing. Notably, we excel in PET/CT-guided procedures, including tumor biopsies, diagnosis and treatment of hyperthyroidism, and nuclear outpatient treatment for metastatic bone tumors. Furthermore, we provide remote imaging diagnosis services for challenging nuclear medicine cases, ensuring high-quality diagnostic outcomes for patients nationwide.
Education & Research
As part of our endeavors, we have actively contributed to academic excellence, participating in compiling national nuclear medicine textbooks for students in 8-year programs and undergraduates. We have undertaken the responsibility of organizing the national continuing education project on SPECT/CT quantitative imaging clinical applications and new developments (Phase 4), and have authored 4 academic monographs and contributed to over 20 others. Over the past five years, our team has published more than 30 papers in SCI and other core journals, hosted the Second National PET/MR Academic Conference in 2018, and contributed to the preparation of guidelines for PET/CT technology operation and clinical applications. Moreover, we have gained the leading role in research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Shanghai Committee of Science and Technology, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
