Overview
Established in 1982, the Ultrasound Department at East Hospital serves as a beacon of excellence led by a team comprising national experts, professors, PhDs and master degree holders. We function a multifaceted institution integrating clinical practice, cutting-edge research, comprehensive education, rigorous training, and stringent quality control measures. As a member unit of the Ultrasound Committee of the Chinese Medical Association, the Ultrasound Committee of the Shanghai Medical Association, and the Chinese Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Engineering, we are also recognized as a premier training base for cardiac ultrasound and a standardized training hub for ultrasound medicine for resident physicians across Shanghai.

The team comprises of 47 physicians, including 1 professor, 1 PhD tutor, 1 master tutor, 2 PhD graduates, 26 master graduates, 2 chief physicians, 10 associate chief physicians, and 16 attending physicians.

With the North Campus located across the Lujiazui economic zone, and the South Campus placed in densely populated Sanlin and the World Expo Site Area, we provide essential ultrasound diagnostic and therapeutic services and beyond. Both campuses are adept at handling a diverse array of cases, including emergencies referred from nearby medical institutions.
Specializing in cardiovascular ultrasound, we offer ultrasound examinations encompassing cardiac ultrasound, vascular ultrasound, abdominal organ ultrasound, gynecological ultrasound, obstetric ultrasound, superficial organ ultrasound, musculoskeletal ultrasound, interventional ultrasound, intraoperative ultrasound monitoring, bedside ultrasound, and more. We are equipped with high-end machines, including state-of-the-art instruments like the Philips EPIQ 7C and Philips EPIQ 7, ensuring precision and accuracy in diagnosis and treatment.
At the forefront of innovation, we lead the development of groundbreaking technologies and procedures, offering transesophageal 2D/3D/4D cardiac ultrasound examinations, intraoperative transesophageal ultrasound monitoring for procedures like left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transesophageal ultrasound assessment for atrial fibrillation radiofrequency ablation, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) evaluation, tumor ultrasound-guided interventions, and other latest ultrasound diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
