Innovations & Achievements

Our Cerebrovascular Disease Center is a city-level clinical treatment hub for stroke, integrating screening, emergency rescue, critical care, comprehensive rehabilitation, and community health education for cerebrovascular diseases. In collaboration with the Medical Emergency Center of Pudong New District, we provide integrated pre-hospital and in-hospital stroke services, including ultra-early thrombolytic therapy. Our intravenous thrombolysis operations are among the best in Shanghai, with a median Door-to-Needle Time (DNT) of less than 35 minutes, meeting international advanced standards. We excel in intravascular treatment for acute stroke and arterial thrombectomy, guided by short-term multimodal imaging. Our specialized stroke intensive care unit enhances critical patient management, offering individualized stroke treatment plans and improving acute stroke care success rates. Additionally, we deliver exceptional early rehabilitation for cognitive, speech, and swallowing disorders and focus on the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, including cerebrospinal fluid biomarker detection in line with international standards. We also specialize in diagnosing and treating senile epilepsy, gestational epilepsy, refractory epilepsy, sphenoid electroencephalography, and long-term video electroencephalography.

Research & Education

As a crucial base for clinical translational research in stem cells at Tongji University, we actively pursue stem cell research in stroke, cognitive disorders, and Parkinson’s disease. We maintain extensive international and domestic collaborations with academic institutions such as the George Institute for Global Health, the team of Academician Pei Gang, UCLA, and the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany. Our department also undertakes clinical internships and teaching tasks for Tongji University School of Medicine, Nanjing Medical University, Shanxi Medical University, and Dalian Medical University. We offer PhD programs in collaboration with Tongji University School of Medicine and Nanjing Medical University. Additionally, our physicians participate in medical assistance activities in Xinjiang and Jinggangshan. Our department has actively engaged in over 20 multi-tiered research initiatives, encompassing prestigious programs such as the National Key Research and Development Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Within recent years, weve achieved a notable publication record with over 20 articles in SCI-indexed journals, a fifth of which boast an impact factor over 5, reflecting our commitment to advancing scientific knowledge.

Honors & Commitments

Our department has earned numerous honors and awards at or above the provincial/ministerial level, including the Outstanding Xinjiang Aid Cadre and the First “Compassionate Physician” Nomination Award of Shanghai. We aim to achieve both domestic and international recognition by leveraging the talents of our younger generation of experts to provide high-quality medical services to a wide range of patients.
