Overview
Established in the heart of Pudong New District, the Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery Department (North Campus) is a pioneering specialty unit dedicated to the advanced diagnosis and treatment of hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases. Renowned for its expertise in complex surgical interventions, including liver transplantation, complex hemihepatectomy, and pancreaticoduodenectomy, the department has amassed a wealth of clinical experience.
Expert Team
Led by Dr. WANG Jinghan, associate chief physician and executive director, our team comprises 10 clinical physicians, including 5 with senior professional titles, 3 with intermediate titles, and 2 with junior titles. 7 physicians hold PhD degrees, while3 hold master’s degrees. Dr. Wang completed his PhD studies at the Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital under the mentorship of Professor JIANG Xiaoqing, a distinguished figure in the field of hepatobiliary surgery and director of the Hepatobiliary Surgery Department at the Naval Medical University’s Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital. Dr. Jiang is a student of the late Academician WU Mengchao, the founding father of liver surgery in China.
Services
Operating within a well-equipped facility of 39 beds, our department delivers exceptional care to over 1,500 patients each year, executing more than 1,000 surgeries with a significant majority utilizing laparoscopic minimally invasive techniques. Our expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases, including various cholangiocarcinomas, liver cancers (both primary and secondary), pancreatic cancers, cystic tumors, hepatic vascular and cystic conditions, and gallstone diseases. We provide comprehensive care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
In addition to our diagnostic and treatment services, we perform a range of sophisticated hepatobiliary surgeries, such as radical surgery for hilar cholangiocarcinoma, pancreaticoduodenectomies, spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomies, and complex pancreatic tumor resections that may involve vascular resections. Our non-surgical treatment modalities include intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemotherapy, hepatic arterial chemoembolization, and a suite of ablation therapies, alongside percutaneous ethanol injection, biological, and molecular targeted therapies, offering a multifaceted approach to managing both benign and malignant tumors.
