The Gynecology Department (North Campus) offers comprehensive services, including general gynecology, cervical diseases, gynecological tumors, pelvic reconstruction, reproductive surgery, family planning, and gynecological endoscopy. Our aim is to establish a clinically researched composite discipline characterized by distinct diagnostic and treatment features. We prioritize human-centric approaches, focusing on the training of young and mid-career technical experts, enhancing our team’s overall technical capabilities, and improving healthcare quality. By continuously introducing new technologies and projects and advocating for compassionate service, our department has developed and thrived.

Our department is led by a team of distinguished professionals dedicated to advancing gynecological care. We are equipped with advanced modern surgical devices such as in vivo diagnostic microscopy, 4K laparoscopy, and 3D laparoscopy. Our standardized diagnostic and treatment teams specialize in various gynecological benign and malignant tumors, cervical diseases, and pelvic floor disorders.
Services
Our department provides a wide range of specialized services:
1. Gynecological Surgeries:
- Extensive hysterectomy and pelvic/abdominal aortic lymph node dissection under laparotomy and laparoscopy.
- Laparoscopic sentinel lymph node imaging-guided resection surgery.
- Extensive cervical conization preserving the uterus and uterine arteries.
- Gynecological malignant tumor chemotherapy, genetic testing analysis, and targeted therapy.
2. Laparoscopic and Single-Port Laparoscopic Surgeries: Total hysterectomy, myomectomy with preservation of the uterus, removal of adenomyomas, and ovarian cystectomy.
3. Cervical Procedures: Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP), cone biopsy, and partial cervical excision surgery.
4. Hysteroscopic Surgeries: Endometrial resection, myomectomy, removal of intrauterine adhesions, endometrial biopsy, combined hysteroscopy examination, early endometrial cancer diagnosis, and fertility-preserving surgeries.
5. Pelvic Floor Surgeries: Mid-urethral sling procedure, repair of anterior and posterior colporrhaphy, uterine prolapse repair surgery.
6. Fertility-Preserving Surgeries: For patients with benign and early malignant gynecological tumors.
7. Family Planning and Reproductive Surgeries: Induced abortion, uterine evacuation, intrauterine device (IUD) insertion/removal, laparoscopy combined with tubal patency testing, and laparoscopic tubal openings.
8. Surgeries for Vaginal and Vulvar Diseases.
Our department offers outpatient services in cervical diseases, gynecological tumors, general gynecology, hysteroscopy, family planning, gynecological urology and pelvic floor reconstruction, and gynecological endocrinology. We conduct vaginal and microscopic vaginal examinations, LEEP procedures, hysteroscopy examinations, painless abortions, and various family planning surgeries.
Research & Innovations
Our department is a postdoctoral and PhD research training center in Gynecology, and a standardized physician training base, contributing significantly to the advancement of national and regional healthcare. Our main research fields include the integration-related carcinogenic mechanisms of high-risk HPV, immune microenvironment detection, and immune targeted therapy for cervical cancer, as well as microscopic endoscopic diagnosis of cervical precancerous lesions/early cervical cancer.
Academic Achievements
Our research team has published over 30 SCI papers in esteemed journals such as Nucleic Acids Research and J Exp Clin Cancer Res. Supported by the Translational Medicine Research Center of the East Hospital and the research platform of Tongji University, our laboratory is equipped with advanced instruments. We have undertaken more than 20 research programs supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and have received funds from the Shanghai Committee of Science and Technology. Our team has published 1 monograph, obtained 6 patents, and received 1 second-class municipal award.
