Overview
The East Hospital Emergency Trauma Surgery (North Campus) is a key national clinical specialty, one of the most significant specialties in Shanghai, and an important department in the construction of the Advanced Discipline for Emergency and Critical Care in Pudong New District. We serve as an accredited institution affiliated with Tongji University to offer PhD and master programs. With an annual outpatient and emergency department visit count of over 40,000, we admit over 1,400 inpatients annually and performs more than 1,200 surgeries per year, with three and four-level surgeries accounting for over 65%.

The North Campus of Emergency Trauma Surgery consists of 19 physicians, including 1 professor, 3 chief physicians, 2 PhD tutors, 1 associate professor, and 7 associate chief physicians.
Services
Equipped with highly skilled and versatile medical staff, we specialize in trauma orthopedics and the treatment of severe and multiple injuries. we employ a minimal invasive method and an integrated model for diagnosing and treating injuries, implementing an integrated multidisciplinary collaborative approach to pre-hospital, emergency and in-hospital care. We have achieved excellent results and a leading national success rate in the treatment of severe multiple injuries, traumatic shock, pelvic fractures, severe fractures of multiple limbs, nonunion fractures, and osteomyelitis.
Academic Achievements
We organize a national-level integrated trauma treatment training course every year. Over the past 5 years, we have secured 5 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, published over 30 SCI papers (with the highest impact factor of 15), won 4 national and Shanghai municipal science and technology achievement awards. The department team has contributed as editor or chief editor to 7 monographs, including Modern Trauma Surgery, Modern Orthopedics - Trauma Orthopedics, Operative Arthroscopy, and Geriatric Hip Fractures and has obtained 8 national patents. We have trained 5 PhD students and 15 master students. Key members of the department have participated in domestic and international exchanges and training, and received numerous honors such as the Shanghai Model Worker, Shanghai May 1st Labor Medal, and Shanghai Advanced Individual in Epidemic Prevention.
