Overview
The East Hospital Emergency Internal Medicine (South Campus) was established in 2012, as part of Emergency Medicine Department, which attained national clinical key specialty status the same year. As a pivotal discipline in Shanghai, we adhere to an integrated treatment model for critical patients. The smooth 24-hour green channel ensures a systematic and standardized diagnostic and treatment process from the resuscitation room to the observation unit, from the emergency ICU to the emergency internal medicine ward.
Expert Team
Led by 2 chief physicians and 2 associate chief physicians, the south campus of Emergency Internal Medicine comprises 24 specialized emergency physicians and over 100 nurses. Among all the medical staff, 22 hold master’s degrees or higher, and 2 have studied in the United States. The strong medical team has solid and extensive knowledge and experience in emergency medicine. We have successfully rescued numerous patients from various sudden and catastrophic incidents in a timely and effective manner, demonstrating strong technical proficiency and operational capability. Our efforts have been highly praised by patients and relevant authorities.
Services
We are equipped with various auxiliary facilities, including the emergency outpatient department, rescue room, waiting area, isolation rescue rooms (two), fluid room, emergency internal medicine ward (30 beds), emergency ICU (8 beds), emergency laboratory, emergency imaging, B-ultrasound room, electrocardiogram room, and emergency pharmacy. The department specializes in respiratory interventional therapy and the diagnosis and treatment of sepsis. Key technologies include bedside bronchoscopy, internal medicine thoracoscopy, continuous blood purification, intensive care, and treatment in the ICU for critical conditions, and the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory difficulties. Moreover, we are well-equipped with a range of medical devices, including both invasive and non-invasive ventilators, bronchoscopy systems, bedside blood filtration machines, monitors, cardiopulmonary resuscitation instruments, non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring devices, visual laryngoscopes, bedside ultrasound, X-ray machines, and cooling blankets. We are capable of performing emergency medical procedures such as endotracheal intubation, bedside fiberoptic bronchoscopy examinations and treatments, internal medicine thoracoscopy treatments, bedside continuous blood purification, assisted mechanical ventilation, deep vein catheterization, temporary pacemaker placement, and emergency thrombolysis treatment.
Academic Achievements
The department has undertaken more than 10 research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and has won numerous awards at the national and municipal levels. We have published over 60 academic papers, patented 10 inventions, and served as reviewers and editors for more than 10 medical scientific journals. We have also served as the chief editor or contributor to multiple academic monographs.
